The role of museums in society is changing. Although in the past they were considered static institutions, museums are reinventing themselves to be more interactive, flexible, adaptable and mobile, focusing on the audience and targeting their communities.

Prado Museum
The Prado Museum, as every year, joins the International Day and Night of Museums, with free access to its collection.
Thyssen Bornemisza Museum
On the occasion of the International Day and the Night of the Museums, which are celebrated on May 18 and 19, both the permanent collection such as the Sorolla and Fashion exhibition will be free to access: from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday the 18th, and from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
In addition, from the 18th to the 20th, visitors will be able to experience a virtual reality experience and delve into several paintings, going through a three-dimensional space in the first person. With immersion goggles, they can wander the meadows of Auvers painted by Van Gogh, the streets of New York that inspired Mondrian, or immerse themselves among the flowers and insects of a Dutch still life.
Reina Sofia Museum
In addition to free access to its facilities, the already frequent Radio Party 3 in the courtyard of the Reina Sofía Museum.
The public music station has organized 40 concerts, 17 hours of music in a row, which will begin at 7:00 am. in the morning and will end around 10:00 p.m., also with free admission until full capacity is reached.

Interpretation Center of Nuevo Baztán
Night blown glass display: the manufacture of glass was one of the most important and prosperous industries among those installed by Juan de Goyeneche in Nuevo Baztán. For this reason, to celebrate the Night of the Museums, the Interpretation Center organizes this blown glass exhibition, following the traditional technique, inviting attendees to experiment with the material in the first person.

Cáceres Museum
As in previous years, the Museum of Cáceres commemorates the DIM with a series of activities aimed at both primary and ESO schoolchildren and families, which are summarized in:
- Workshop visits on traditional crafts (pottery, filigree jewelry, basketry, shepherding and textile manufacturing), for Primary Education and 1st and 2nd of ESO. From May 7 to 10. From 10.00 to 14.00 hours.
- «Eureka, what a great invention», Guiñol from the Museum and Workshop, for Early Childhood Education and 1st and 2nd Primary. From May 14 to 17, from 10 am to 2 pm.
- Didactic shearing and workshops, for adults and companions. May 18 and 19.
