Scientists Sergi Meseguer and Andrés Santos-Cubedo from the Crystallography and Mineralogy Area of ​​the UJI and Begoña Poza from the Grup Guix de Vila-real have worked hand in hand with the El Faixero kitchen equipment for create a menu where tourists can enjoy smells and flavors that transport them millions of years ago, to a world that was dominated by dinosaurs.

The menu has been created on a scientific basis provided by paleontologists and on a gastronomic basis fostered by the years and the culinary experience of the members of El Faixero.

This new initiative, pioneer in the Valencian Community, is aimed at highlight the great tourist and gastronomic potential linked to the territory of the inland regions, highlighting local cuisine, based on sustainability, landscape and heritage.

This is why a Gastronomic menu based on the geological and paleontological wealth of the Els Ports region and especially in the dinosaurs that inhabited it millions of years ago. The proposal has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the restaurant El Faixero de Cinctorres and scientists from the Universitat Jaume I and the Grup Guix de Vila-real.

Cinctorres-Dinomanía is a project that has been characterized by presenting leading proposals in the Valencian Community in the field of tourism initiatives.

For example, it is the first park of its kind to have a dinosaur bone site prepared for visitors, while it has been adapted for visits by people with reduced mobility.

Research that has been carried out for twenty years has shown the heritage importance of the Els Ports region in terms of dinosaur fossils. These findings have already been asserted from a museum point of view, and Cinctorres has, in addition to the site that can be visited, a museum of dinosaurs.

The presentation of the «Dinomanía Gourmet Dinosaur Menu»It was held at the Castelló Tourism Center and was attended by the regional secretary of the Valencian Tourism Agency, Francesc Colomer; the general director of Tourism, Josep Gisbert; the mayor of Cinctorres, Antoni Ripollés; the director of the Castelló CdT, Esther Labaig, and the UJI researchers Sergi Meseguer and Andrés Santos-Cubedo.
